Some linux distro’s has a troubles using libiqrf. Libiqrf use first release of userspace library libusb_0.1. Development of this library was finished in 2008. There exist an community which based their libusb (version 1.0) on the code from version 0.1 but development is active and this library has also some compatibility libary for use old 0.1 library.

Libiqrf was written for libusb_0.1 but some distros doesn’t have compatibility layer and use only libusb_1.0. So I decide to rewrite libiqrf by using libusb_1.0 API.

You can find first commit at: http://github.com/nandra/libiqrf/tree/libusb_1_0
(branch libusb_1_0)

It was tested with example applications and works like sharm

Liqrf (linux iqrf programmer) is ready but we need to somehow compile hex files for TR-21A modules. In this how-to I’ll provide script for doing this.

1. First you need to install wine for executing windows applications.

2. From iqrf webpage download startup package and extract.
Example sources can be found in src directory.

3. Copy CC5x.exe from 3rdParties to src directory.

4. Use this cc21a.sh for building executable for TR-21A module (TR-31B are not supported yet by liqrf so makes no sense to compile).

cc21a.sh code:

#!/bin/bash
wine CC5x.exe -a -bu -Q -Vn "$@" -p16F88

Use then liqrf to load hex file to your TR-21A module. That’s all folks.

You can clone from this repo:

git clone http://github.com/nandra/liqrf/tree/master liqrf

Repo still contain also old spi example implementation. Current uploader version can be found at /liqrf directory.

Today contact me a student that he would like to use my liqrf implementation because of custom usb program for windows doesn’t work. I like it when people looking for open-source solutions . Last days I focus on alsa audio driver for HTC Wizard, but I decide to look what I implement some weeks ago for liqrf. After some testing it seems that liqrf can communicate with iqrf module via SPI commands. Full SPI protocol defined by IQRF is implememted. I load E07-SPI.hex (with IQRF IDE) to module and try to read and write some data. I always get some usefull response. Current state of liqrf could provide a sample application for checking SPI state and reading adn writing to SPI.

I also try to figure out how hex format is looks like. I make some small program (ihex_parser)which can parse hex file and print output in human readable format. This approach is necessery for check what should be sent to module when programming is performed. So I have some nice work for next days
