Once you've made the decision to buy a PSP (and if you haven't decided yet, you might want to read 5 Reasons to Buy a PSP and not a DS or iPhone) there are still some things to know before you actually make the purchase. There are four different models to choose from--two current models and two you can find used--plus a variety of bundles that come with different accessories and games. You might also want to find out about what accessories you should buy and which games are good.

Which PSP Model or Bundle is Best?

With four different PSP models to choose from and a huge assortment of bundles, it can be hard to know just what to get. If you want to buy brand new, your options will be more limited, but places like eBay offer used and new-old-stock on many of the models and bundles of the past. Fortunately, once you decide what you want to use your PSP for, it's easier to figure out which is the best model to buy. And details of what comes in each bundle should help make that choice easier, too.

Things to go with your PSP

While everything you absolutely must have to use a PSP comes in the box with it, there are other things that will come in really, really handy. A case is a good buy to protect your shiny handheld, and a larger memory stick is a good choice if you plan to play a lot of games at once or you want to download games.

And how about headphones? External speakers? Not all accessories are expensive, either, so whether you're buying for yourself or as a gift you don't have to break the bank.

Which Games are Good?

Since the PSP has been around for several years, there are a lot of games available so figuring out which ones are worth your money can be a chore.

Luckily, the large amount of games also means there's something for everyone. You may want to go with the hottest new games out there or save a bit of money by looking for games that are older, but still good.
